As part of the ongoing training programmes with focus on the needs of the people of North-Eastern states of India, the Indian Statistical Institute is organising a Short Term Course on the Use of SPSS and other Statistical Packages during March 13-17, 2007 at Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Institute of Technology

Target Group: The target participants are the researchers from academic institutions, Government and Public Sector officials from North Eastern states of India who are using statistical techniques.

Eligibility: Should have Post-graduate degree, knowledge of statistical techniques (as pass subject or some other formal way) is desirable. Age should be below 45 yrs. Application should be only from the north eastern region (including sikkim). The candidate should be working in a govt. organisaion or associated with an academic institution, and needs to be sponsored by the head of the department or other competent authority. Sponsorship does not include any financial obligation.

Course Content: Computational aspects of descriptive statistics, two-samples tests for mean, paired t-test, analysis of contingency tables, regression analysis for continuous and binary response, analysis of time series data and discussion on interpretations of results and theoretical issues will be dealt using statistical software, such as SPSS, R, etc.

Workshop Charges: There is no charge for training or fees for registration in the workshop.

Financial Support: Outstation participants will be provided free board and lodge and both way Train/Bus fare by shortest route will be reimbursed against submission of tickets.

No other allowance is admissible.
