Who can apply:
Applications are invited from research students working in Topology/Geometry. However, anyone interested may apply. The participants are expected to have done the foundation courses in Differential and Algebraic Topology.
We would like the participants to be familiar with the materials of the first six chapters from the book An Introduction to Differentiable manifolds and Riemannian Geometry by W. M. Boothby.
The workshop will introduce the basics of
foliation theory in the first three days from the first two chapters of the book Introduction to foliations and Lie
groupoids by I. Moerdijk and J. Mrcun. Some amount of familiarity with various equivalent definitions of foliation and
the notion of holonomy group associated with a foliation will be useful. The second week will be completely devoted to
more advanced and recent work in foliation theory.
Support:
A limited number of outstation participants will be provided with travel support and local hospitality.
Important information
Applications may be submitted in plain paper with the following information: Name. Gender. Present status and Affiliation/Institute. Mailing address. Area of research interest. First/second year research students are requested to arrange for one letter of reference from a faculty of his/her present institute.
