Join Ph.D. Programme of ISI

The Indian Statistical Institute, founded by Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in 1931, is known far and wide for its outstanding research contributions in several disciplines. It is one of the first Institutes of National Importance in India, and provides a peerless research environment for bright and motivated students at its Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore campuses.

Applications are invited for Ph.D. Programmes in the following disciplines:

* Statistics * Physics and Applied Mathematics
* Mathematics * Geology
* Computer Science * Biological Anthropology
* Quantitative Economics * Human Genetics
* Quality, Reliability and Operations Research(QROR) * Agriculture and Ecology
* Library and Information Science * Sociology

Eligibility: A good academic record with a Master's in a relevant discipline.

A few of the above programmes such as Computer Science and QROR have interdisciplinary intake, and also may consider outstanding candidates with B.E./B.Tech. degrees from premier institutes.

Admission: Based on performance in written tests and interview conducted by ISI.

Fellowships: Selected applicants will be awarded research fellowships.

A special fellowship is awarded to an outstanding candidate in each of the following subjects:
(i) Statistics, (ii) Mathematics, (iii) Computer Science, (iv) Quantitative Economics and (v) Quality, Reliability and Operations Research. Our Ph.D. alumni adorn top academic institutions and industries all over the world.
