Objective

 Diabetes is complex and chronic illness.It can result in the development of other health complications. In India, there is a projection of diabetes reaching epidemic proportions.Diabetes treatment is provided by a team of health care professionals that consists of a physician, diabetes nurse educator, dietitian, and psychologist.The psychologist provides direct services to the patient via promotion of health behaviors and treatment of psychological problems, and also provides consultation to the medical team on how to incorporate psychological principles into patient care to enhance clinical outcomes.The bulk of the psychological services in diabetes care are provided to patients who do not have diagnosable psychological problems. For example, nonadherence to the diabetes regimen is the most common reason for psychological referral. Psychological treatments may be used to improve adherence to the diabetes regimen and, more generally, to develop sustained pro-diabetic lifestyles. One in every four diabetic patients suffers from recurring problems with depression, anxiety, or eating disorders. Researches on diabetes are interdisciplinary. This symposium will focus on recent advancement of research on Diabetes from the perspectives of psychology and allied sciences through invited lectures,oral and poster presentations. Manuscript will be reviewed by specific academic committee. Selected abstract will be published in the symposium proceedings.
