Abstract
Plantation industry in India has passed through three historical eras viz.romantic era,scientific era and marketing era.LPG (Liberalization,Privatization &Glabalization ) has thrown up new challenges to ensure the survivability of the industry and its workforce. Presentations would focus on the relative importance of Best factors
( Behavioural,Economic Strategic and Technical) and the sources of work pressure that plantation managers face. It would also focus on the different perception of managers about the workers. Further, the decision style of plantation managers would also be presented. Data for the same was obtained from tea industry in the North East region during the "reach -out" programmes of the Indian Institute of Plantation Management.
