Bangla Font: The Bangla True Type Font (ISI) developed in this project is now being incorporated into a Bangla editor. Also, a web version of this font is generated using Bitstream's web-font wizard to display text in Bangla within a web browser.

Bangla Editor: The editor provides standard editing features such as cut, copy, paste, select, select all, file operations, bold, italic, underlined text, superscript and subscript, left, right and centre alignments etc. It has the option to change the font size. It also includes a Bangla spell-checker. This editor can save the written content in plain text or RTF format and also in ISCII format. An ISCII encoded file can be inserted using this editor. A floating keyboard layout is attached for the new user to get the key information for writing bangla in this editor.

Bangla Spell Checker: This utility program works with the help of Bangla Editor. Spell checker can act as offline or online. One can run this program on previously typed material to find all the wrong words in that text, and then it will show the suggestion list for each wrong word. It has facility to add new words in the dictionary (in ISCII format) against which spellings are checked. One can delete words from this dictionary too.

Bengali-English Dictionary: The Dictionary contains about 17,000 Bengali words, their most common English meaning, various usage of the word and different meaning of the word. Some powerful searching strategies have been implemented in it. It is yet to be completed and new words are being added. The target is 60,000 words.

Printed Bangla Document Images & ground truth: Some famous Bengali novels and books have been selected to prepare a Bangla document image corpus along with ground truth. This database can be used for testing a OCR system that is developed by any organization. A brief description of those selected novels and books are given below:

Maitreya Jatak - This is a famous Bangla historical novel written by Bani Basu, a famous Bengali writer. As far as the linguistic aspect goes, the overall language of the book is old Bengali. Polished and chaste form (Sadhu bhasa) of narration is used through out the book and some archaic forms (terms mostly derived from Sanskrit and Prakrit sources) are also used mainly to create an atmosphere of the period of Goutama Buddha, which the book depicts. Ananda Publishers one of the largest publishers of Kolkata have published the book. The quality of the printing is excellent and Computer generated font developed by Ananda Publishers have been used for the book.

Pratham Alo - This is also a famous Bangla novel written by famous Bengali writer Sunil Gangopadhyaya. The incidents of the novel are nearly one hundred and fifty years old and the theme is related to the Bengali renaissance. The standard Bengali language has been used for this book. The percentage of archaic words is much less than Maitreya Jatak. This book has been published by Ananda Publishers using offset printing technology. The overall printing quality is good but worse than Maitreya Jatak.

Upendra Kishore Rachana Samagra - This book is written by the famous author of juvenile literature Shri Upendra Kishore Roychowdhuri who is the grand father of famous filmmaker and writer Satyajit Roy. Old formal and polished Bengali language is used in this book. Offset font is used and has been published by Ananda publishers.

Bhasa Desh Kal - The book is written by Dr. Pabitra Sarkar, a distinguished author of Bengali Linguistics. The language of the book is standard Bengali colloquial. The publisher of the book is Mitra and Ghosh. The printing quality of this book is even worse than Pratham Alo.

Mahabharat Katha - The book is published by Udbodhan publication of Ramkrishna Mission and written by a Swamiji of the mission. Modern Bengali language has been used in this book.

Amar Jibanananda Abiskar o Anyanya - Sunil Gangopadhyaya, the famous modern writer of Bengali literature is the author of this book. The language of the book is standard Bengali colloquial. Ananda Publishers has published this book. The printing quality is good and offset printing technology is used.

Bankim Ch. Chattopadhyay is considered the first and one of the greatest novelists in Bangla language. He has written 14 novels besides a large number of essays on various literary and social issues. He wrote the 'Vande Mataram' song, which played a major role in Indian Independence struggle.
