Call for Papers Special Issue on "Stream Ciphers" in the journal CCDS, Springer http://www.springer.com/computer/security+and+cryptology/journal/12095 Submission Deadline Extended to January 15, 2012. Discrete structures, Sequences and Boolean functions constitute the basic building blocks of Stream Ciphers, the primary goal of which is to produce pseudo-random sequences of keystream words for Cryptographic applications. Over the last decade, the cryptology community has witnessed a huge volume of high-quality research work in the domain of stream ciphers, spearheaded by the eSTREAM project of the European Network of Excellence for Cryptology and the evolution of the security portfolio in modern tele-communication standards. The field of stream ciphers has reached a decent level of maturity over the last few years through the proposal and standardization of several new designs as well as a considerable amount of analysis put forward by eminent academicians. In light of this, a Special Issue on "Stream Ciphers" will be published in the journal "Cryptography and Communications". This is to harness the research contributions devoted towards stream ciphers over the last decade into a single literary volume with substantial archival value. For this special issue, we would like to solicit the following in the field of Stream Ciphers: 1. Novel contributions; 2. Research contributions published and/or presented at past conferences and workshops, with substantial revision and new contributions; 3. Expository survey articles in relevant topics. Each paper will be reviewed by at least two experts. Instruction for authors: ------------------------ Authors are encouraged to submit high-quality, original work that has neither appeared in, nor is under consideration by, other journals. Submissions are non-anonymous. Each submission must begin with a title, an abstract, a list of key words, and an introduction that summarizes the contributions of the paper. Accepted submissions must not appear in any journal or in any other conference or workshop with proceedings. The final versions of accepted papers will have to follow the CCDS guidelines (http://www.springer.com/computer/security+and+cryptology/journal/12095) with an expected page limit of 20 pages including references and appendices. Springer offers authors, editors and reviewers of Cryptography and Communications a web-enabled online manuscript submission and review system. Our online system offers authors the ability to track the review process of their manuscript. Manuscripts should be submitted to: http://www.edmgr.com/ccds . This online system offers easy and straightforward log-in and submission procedures, and supports a wide range of submission file formats. Once you log in, for "Article Type" you need to choose "Stream Ciphers". Submissions under item 1 must not duplicate work that any of the authors has published elsewhere or has submitted in parallel to any journal or any other conference or workshop with formally published proceedings. Submissions under item 2 must contain detailed revision of research contributions published and/or presented at past conferences with substantial amount of new contribution (roughly speaking it should be one third of the total contribution). The authors should clearly identify the sections that are novel. Submissions under item 3 should summarize and explain state-of-the-art research results in a novel way that are expected to provide better understanding in the field of stream ciphers. Such papers should describe the existing literature, provide a detailed perspective in the area of stream ciphers, and try to explain future trends in this area of research.
