IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI 2012)
Special Session on
Computational Intelligence in Social Media Analysis and Mining
June
10 - 15, 2012, Brisbane, Australia
Overview: In recent days, with intensive growth of intelligent computing techniques, a variety of social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MySpace, Orkut etc.) is rapidly emerging to bring people together in many creative ways. The vast amount of data available in social media provides tremendous challenge to researchers and analysts, who are trying to gain insights into human interaction and collective behavior. Efficient mining and analysis of social data can assist people in different tasks like crisis management, reputation analysis, customer profiling and product survey, thereby leading to new applications related to economy, marketing, education, business or medical science.
Computational intelligence provides powerful and flexible approaches in analyzing real world complex problems involving imprecise and incomplete data. Intelligent computing techniques, including neural networks, fuzzy sets, evolutionary algorithms, and their hybridizations, can be successfully applied to multimedia social data for efficiently extracting information and embedded knowledge. The aim of this special session is to explore the research in application of computational intelligence techniques for analyzing and mining multimedia data from social network.
The topics of interest include but are not limited to:
Computing models of social media
Visualization of Social Network analysis
Recommendation System
Reputation Analysis
Rumor Analysis
Sentiment Analysis
Opinion Mining
Web Mining
Social Data Mining
Text mining of Social Networks
Mining Multimedia data
Community Detection
Topic Extraction
User profile modeling
Paper Submission: This hybrid session spans the three WCCI 2012 conferences: CEC 2012, IJCNN 2012, and FUZZ-IEEE 2012. Prospective authors can select the conference through which they would like their paper(s) to be reviewed and published (if accepted). For electronic paper submission, please check WCCI 2012 web site. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the standard format and page limit of regular papers specified in WCCI 2012 and submitted through the web link at WCCI-2012. Please select "Sxxx: Computational Intelligence in Social Media Analysis and Mining" as the main research topic when submitting your manuscripts. Special session papers will be treated in the same way as regular papers and included in the conference proceedings.
Important Dates:
For important dates such as Paper Submission deadline, Decision Notification, Final Camera-Ready Submission / Conference Registration, etc., please refer to WCCI 2012 web pages.
