FORM PROCESSING
Many organizations regularly deal with voluminous table-form documents. Automating the processing of such documents has enormous significance. Even in a country like India, where labor is very cheap, its importance is no less because of the enormous size of its population.
Automatic
form document processing is a useful application of the document image analysis
techniques. Related research works aim at efficient extraction of data from
various locations of a structured form document image. However, both extraction
and recognition of the extracted data are essential functions of a form
processing system.
As a part of our current research activity on automatic form processing, we developed the following: (i) a large image database of real-life forms; (ii) ISIFormReader, a semi-automatic scheme for processing application type forms.
