Objective: Like previous years, this summer school will offer tutorial lectures to provide access to the research areas in Computer Vision, Image Processing and Machine Learning. The school is open to the undergraduate students (3 rd year onwards) from all branches of Engineering. The students from other science disciplines including Biological Sciences are also encouraged to apply. Few graduate students may be selected. Some of the advanced lectures will present popular and useful applications and open research problems. Each participant will have to complete a project related to the theme of the school. Speakers: The speakers from Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) have been carrying out basic and applied research in areas but not limited to pattern recognition, computer vision, image and video processing. Besides contributing regularly to national and international journals and conferences, they publish books, serve in journal editorial boards, collaborate with several national and international universities, organize international conferences and supervise postgraduate research. Application Procedure: Interested candidates are requested to apply online in the prescribed format. The application link will be active during May 04, 2023 to May 22, 2023 in https://www.isical.ac.in/~ecsu/. A statement of purpose (within 1000 characters) is a mandatory requirement during the filling up of the application form. Also a letter of recommendation/permission from the Dean of Studies or Head of the Department of the respective institute/organization must be uploaded during submission of the application form. Short-listed candidates will be informed individually by email. Attendance in all lectures and completion of the project are mandatory to fulfill the requirement of the completion of the school. Candidates having other academic commitments during May 31 – July 14, 2023 should not apply. Project Work: Each participant will be assigned a mentor to carry out the project work. He/she will have to complete and then present the project as per schedule provided during the school. ISI will not provide any computing resources for performing the project work. However, some space inside the ISI, Kolkata premises may be arranged to work using own computing resources. TA/DA, Accommodation: There is no provision to pay travelling and dearness allowances for attending the school. A limited number of chargeable hostel type accommodation may be arranged, if available, for outstation participants based on the requests received first come first serve basis.
