Fluvial Mechanics Laboratory (FML) at ISI came into existence in 1978 with the joint efforts of Prof. Supriya Sengupta (Geologist), Prof. J.K. Ghosh (Statistician) and Prof. B.S. Mazumder (Mathematician). Since 1978 it has evolved a lot.
