Training Programmes

  • Participated in a one day workshop cum training programme, held at Centre for Endangered Languages, Viswa-Bharati University, Bolpur, in the month of March, 2018.
  • Participated in a 3 week training programme on Translation conducted by the National Translation Mission, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore from 8th November to 28th November, 2017.
  • Attended a 2-day training programme for the project Mother Tongue Survey of India, held at Language Division Kolkata in August 2017.

Participation in experiments

  • Participated in two Psycholinguistics experiments on 10th December, 2018, held at Jadavpur University, conducted by Professor Aditi Lahiri, University of Oxford, UK, under the project ‘Resolving morpho-phological alternation: historical, neurolinguistics and computational approaches’ , funded by the European Research Council.

Achivements

  • Awarded with the Bankim Chandra Chatterjee Award for highest marks in Bengali in A.I.S.S.C.E (class -12) examinations, 2010 from school.
  • Awarded for holding 3rd position in a Bengali essay competition organized by the Youth Hostel Association of India, in the year 2009.

Work Experience

  • Presently, working as a Project Linked Personnel at Linguistic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata on the project ‘Bangla POS Tagged Text corpus generation’. Also assisted in designing the tool (POS tagger) , for the project.
  • Working as a Linguistic Resource Person, Language Division, Kolkata, in the project titled ‘Mother Tongue Survey of India’, which includes transcription of audio data (word list, sentence list and free speech) and a detailed phonological, morphological and syntactic analysis of the transcribed data.
  • Worked as Field Enumerator in a four day field survey (27th-30th March), in the villages of Purulia district, on the endangered languages Kheria and Birhor, organised by Centre for Endangered Languages, Viswa-Bharati University, Bolpur.
  • Participated in a field survey named Linguistic Field Survey and Language Data Collection as one of the filed linguists, conducted by Linguistic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, in five different villages of West Midnapur, West Bengal, India, from 6th to 11th March, 2016.
  • Worked as a research intern at the Linguistic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, from November 2016 to December 2017.
  • Worked as a Senior Linguist in the project Indian Languages Corpora Initiative (Phase-II), funded by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India, from November 2015 to October 2016.
  • Worked as a research intern at Linguistic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, from July 2015 to October 2015.

Conference Proceedings

  • Presented a paper on “Social Networks and their impacts on the languages of Khatra, in connection to Communication Accommodation Theory” in the 46th All India Conference of Dravidian Linguistics and International Symposium on Linguistic Ecology and Language Technology, held at School of Languages and Linguistics, Jadavpur University, from 21st to 23rd June, 2018.
  • Participated in the 38th International Conference of Linguistic Society of India, held at IIT Guwahati, from 10th to 12th November, 2016, and presented a paper on ‘Bilingual learning strategies used by Bangla-speaking children to acquire English as their second language.
