M. Tech. (QROR) in ISI

The course
The Master of Technology in Quality, Reliability and Operations Research [M. Tech. (QROR)] is a unique two-year full time degree course offered in Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata. The M. Tech. program is conducted in four semesters and offers a variety of subjects like Statistical Quality Control, Quality Management and Systems, Industrial Engineering and Management, Operations Research and Optimization Techniques, Reliability, Statistical Methods, Design of Experiments, Programming Techniques and Data Structure, Computer Engineering, Data Base Management Systems and others.
To strengthen interaction with industry, all students will have to undertake two project works on live problems for a period of twelve and twenty weeks respectively during this two-year period as a part of the curriculum.

The application form may be downloaded from the web-site of the institute.  The admission test is generally conducted in the month of May and the academic session begins from July every year.

A candidate with minimum qualification of either Master degree in Statistics or Mathematics with Probability and Statistics as major subjects or Bachelor degree in Engineering or Technology, or any other qualification considered equivalent or Post Graduate Diploma/Part Time Post Graduate Diploma in SQC and OR from the Indian Statistical Institute can apply for this program.

The institute provides adequate hostel facilities to all students on request. The institute offers excellent computer facilities and has one of the richest libraries in the country. Stipends are granted to every student for all the four semesters other than the sponsored candidates.

Career Opportunities
The placement cell of the institute has an excellent placement record and organizes campus interview for the students every year.
After successful completion, the students have joined in industries and service organizations in different sectors like banking, insurance, analytics, manufacturing and software. Some of them are pursuing research in Indian and overseas universities and institutes.
The institute offers a number of regular JRF programs with respect to different areas which include QROR. For further study in ISI, one can participate in one of the JRF programs after completion of M. Tech. (QROR).

Engineering And Statistics Stream
Project - I (at factory) 12 weeks Starts on first week of May

Project - II (at factory) - 20 weeks Starts on first week of March

Project I will have 100 marks, Dissertation 200 marks and Project II 300 marks
Each semester consists of about 14 weeks of instruction (ordinarily 3 lectures of 50 minutes each except for workshop and one practical-cum-tutorial session per week).
