ABSTRACT
In order to
identify the underlying substrates of the attention, working memory,
executive function and other memory functions, different patients with
focal lesion at different sites of the brain have been studied employing
neuro-imaging and neuro-psychological techniques. After identification
of the lesion site with the CT-Scan or MRI, the test for the assessment
of the nature and degree of impairment of cognitive function, have
been employed in different focal lesion groups. The focal lesion involved
the frontal, parietal, tempero parietal region of the brain and also
the regions of the thalamus, basal ganglia and cerebellum. Lesion in both
the right and left hemisphere for almost each of the lobe have been considered.
Observation indicated the involvement of different substrates in
the operation of single function and also the dissociation of the related function due to involvement of different substrates. |
