SCOPE

Categorical data is data that classifies an observation as belonging to one or more categories. For example, an item might be judged as good or bad, or a response to a survey may be categorized as agree, disagree, or no opinion. Categorical variables represent types of data which may be divided into groups. Examples of categorical variables are race, caste, sex, age group and educational level. In psychological research categorical variables are both genuinely and arbitrarily dichotomous. This Workshop aims at disseminating knowledge about three issues – (a) Data transformation from categorical to metric and vice versa, (b)Categorical data association and (c) Categorical data regression. This workshop will be organized by the Psychology Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. The unit earlier organized several tutorials on data visualization. Besides, faculties of the unit conducted several faculty development training programs on data visualization in collaboration with universities and research institutes across different states of India and abroad. This workshop invites tutorials on following statistics with related data visualization plots.
