A conference jointly organised by Indian Statistical Institute & Presidency University to celebrate 125th Birth Anniversary of Prof. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis
It is well known that Professor P.C. Mahalanobis, during his tenure as a Professor in Physics in Presidency College, Kolkata, set up a statistical laboratory in Presidency College sometime in the 1920s. On December 17, 1931, the Indian Statistical Institute was founded as a learned society and housed in the Statistical Laboratory. Incidentally, the Presidency College, presently known as Presidency University, a front liner University of the country, is celebrating its bicentenary this year. As a part of the 125th birth anniversary celebration of Prof. Mahalanobis, Indian Statistical Institute and Presidency University are planning to jointly organizing a conference on Statistical Physics during February 26 – 28, 2018. The primary aim of this conference is to expose students and young scholars to the exciting world of Statistical Physics through a set of invited lectures by eminent researchers.
We hope you will consider joining us in these celebrations and participate in this conference.
The conference is open to all areas of Statistical Physics. The participants who are interested to present their research work in this conference are requested to submit one page abstract of not more than 300 words.
