swagatam Das received the B. E. Tel. E., M. E. Tel. E (Control Engineering specialization) and Ph. D. degrees, all from Jadavpur University, India, in 2003, 2005, and 2009 respectively. Swagatam Das is currently serving as an associate professor and Head of the Electronics and Communication Sciences Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. His research interests include evolutionary computing and machine learning. Dr. Das has published more than 400 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. He is the founding co-editor-in-chief of Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, an international journal from Elsevier. He has also served as or is serving as the associate editors of the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, Pattern Recognition (Elsevier), Neurocomputing (Elsevier), Information Sciences (Elsevier), IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, and so on. He is an editorial board member of Information Fusion (Elsevier), Progress in Artificial Intelligence (Springer), Applied Soft Computing (Elsevier), Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (Elsevier), and Artificial Intelligence Review (Springer). Dr. Das has 28,000+ Google Scholar citations and an H-index of 79 till date. He has been associated with the international program committees and organizing committees of several reputed international conferences including NeurIPS, AAAI, AISTATS, ACM Multimedia, BMVC, IEEE CEC, GECCO, etc. He has acted as guest editors for special issues in journals like IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation and IEEE Transactions on SMC, Part C. He is the recipient of the 2012 Young Engineer Award from the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE). He is also the recipient of the 2015 Thomson Reuters Research Excellence India Citation Award as the highest cited researcher from India in Engineering and Computer Science category between 2010 to 2014.

  • Our joint paper "Clustering High-dimensional Data with Ordered Weighted L1 Regularization" has just been accepted to the prestigious 26-th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Statistics (AISTATS 2023)
  • Our paper titled "UEQMS: UMAP Embedded Quick Mean Shift Algorithm for High Dimensional Clustering" has just been accepted to the 37-th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-23)
  • Our paper "On Translation and Reconstruction Guarantees of the Cycle-Consistent Generative Adversarial Networks" has been accepted for presentation at the NeurIPS 2022 (Thirty-sixth Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems).
  • Our paper "GridShift: A Faster Mode-seeking Algorithm for Image Segmentation and Object Tracking" has been accepted for oral presentation at the IEEE CVPR 2022 conference.

  • Two of our (highly theoretical) papers get accepted for Spotlight presentation (less than 3% of the total 9000+ submissions in this category) at the NeurIPS 2021 (Thirty-fifth Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems) conference.

  • Our paper on the spherical search optimizer with a low precision projection matrix for derivative-free non-convex optimization has been accepted to the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics.

  • Our paper proposing a new entropy measure and its applications to machine learning has been accepted and presented at the ISIT 2021 (International Symposium on Information Theory) conference.

  • Our paper on a new weighted version of the blurring mean-shift clustering method has been accepted and presented at the AAAI 2021 conference.

  • Our joint work (with Saptarshi Chakraborty, my past M. Stat. student and now with UC Berkeley) on a new weighted sparse clustering for high dimensional data gets accepted to the IEEE Trasanctions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (T-PAMI)

  • Our paper (with Avisek Gupta, my Ph. D. scholar at ISI) on a new idea of transfer clustering under weak supervision gets accepted to IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence.
