Currently I am an INSPIRE Fellow (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) at Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata. As part of the fellowship programme I am carrying out my Ph.D. research work at the Bioinformatics lab in the Machine Intelligence Unit of ISI Kolkata under the supervision of Prof. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay. I have registered for Ph.D. (Engg.) at the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata under the joint supervision of Prof. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay and Prof. Ujjwal Maulik. INSPIRE fellowship is offered by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India to encourage university toppers to pursue research and doctoral studies in futuristic science and engineering areas. Prior to this, I was involved in research on pattern recognition, feature selection, bioinformatics at ISI Kolkata as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the prestigious DST-sponsored Swarnajayanti fellowship related project under the guidance of Prof. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, for 2 years. Besides this, I also have 1.5 years of experience in the software industry after the completion of my B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering. I left the job to pursue Master of Engineering in Computer Science & Engineering at BESU (Bengal Engineering and Science University, formerly known as B.E. College) Shibpur, West Bengal where I topped the class with 80.72% and received medal from the Chancelor and Governor of Bengal, in 2010. BESU is presently being considered by Government of India for being upgraded to an IIEST (Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology).
