Research research

The principles of research at CSRU are creativity, complementarity, flexibility, and collaboration. Although the research program of the Unit can be viewed as a single entity, it is conceptually divided into several broad sub-programs. The modular nature of this structure directs efforts to the most promising lines of research. The Unit is organized around small research groups, each of which represents an area of specialization relevant to solving the scientific and technical problems associated with Cryptology and Cyber Security.

Research Interests

The research programs focus on the theoretical as well as the applied aspect of Cryptology and Security research. The research areas of the Unit include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • Computational Algebra and Number Theory
  • Discrete Mathematics and Coding Theory
  • Foundations of Cryptology
  • Symmetric Key Cryptology
  • Public Key Cryptology
  • Hash Codes and Authentication
  • Cryptographic Protocols
  • Cryptographic Hardware

  • Network Security
  • Cyber Security of Critical Infrastructure
  • Cryptography for Clouds and Grids
  • Cryptography for Cyber Physical Systems
  • Fault Tolerance of Complex Networks
  • Quantum Computation and Cryptology
  • Digital Rights Management
  • Financial Cryptology
