The Physics and Applied Mathematics Unit (PAMU) was constituted in 1993 as a separate unit under the Physics and Earth
Science Division of Indian Statistical Institute as per second Review Committee's recommendation.
The Faculty Members of this Unit are primarily engaged in active research on frontier areas of Theoretical
Physics and Applied Mathematics.
This includes individual and collaborative research involving several sponsored research projects,
guiding research students towards their Ph.D. degrees and helping out Research Associates in their
respective projects. Apart from research activities the Faculty Members are engaged in teaching various courses, both at Post-MSc Graduate and Undergraduate levels. The Unit is presently in growing mode and welcomes emerging areas of research with recent trends. |
