Sample Survey and Official Statistics Working Group at the Indian Statistical Institute

About the Working Group

Sampling and Official Statistics Unit (SOSU), was formed as a separate Unit at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in 2012, in order to promote research, teaching and training in official statistics. After its inception, SOSU took up numerous demand-driven research projects on methodologies followed in Indian Official Statistical system and Development Policies undertaken by the Government. The Working Group on Survey Sampling and Official Statistics (SSOS) was set up in August 2026 as a support group for fulfilling the mandate of SOSU, particularly in the area of Survey Sampling and Official Statistics. It consists of a larger pool of ISI Faculty members from various units at multiple locations of ISI.
