Academic Status

I am currently working for my PhD in Engineering at Computer Vision & Pattern Recognition Unit in Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, under the supervision of Prof. Swapan Kr. Parui.
Thesis Title : Some Studies on Off-Line Handwritten Word Recognition for Devanagari Script

Current Research Activities

a) Off-Line Handwritten Word Recognition For Devanagari Script.
b) Off-Line Handwritten Character Recognition using Statistical & non-Statistical Classifiers.
c) Development of ISIFormReader , A Form Processing System.
d) On-Line Handwriting Recognition System for Indian Languages.

Awards

  1. Received a certificate of Special Mention as one of the authors for the paper Analysis of Writer Idiosyncracies Towards Improved Perfomance of ISIForm Reader in the First International Conference of Emerging Applications of IT (EAIT-2006) held at Kolkata during February 10-11, 2006

  2. Received Amiya K. Pujari IT Award for the paper entitled An HMM Based Recognition Scheme for Handwritten Oriya Numerals done in collaboration with T. K. Bhowmick, S. K. Parui, U.Bhattacharya as the Best Paper presented in the 9th International Conference on Information Technology(ICIT) held at Bhubaneswar, during 18-21 December, 2006.
