I received my Ph.D. in Statistics, from the Pennsylvania State University, U.S.A. in 1991, under the guidance of Professor Bruce. G. Lindsay. After spending four years at the Department of Mathematics, University of Texas at Austin, U.S.A., as an Assistant Professor, I joined the Indian Statistical Institute in 1995.

Currently I am a professor of the Interdisciplinary Statistical Research Unit (ISRU), ISI-Kolkata.

My research interests lie mainly in the following areas:

• Minimum Distance Inference
• Robust Inference
• Multivariate Analysis
• Biostatistics.
