The Centre has a strong teaching component as a route to disseminate specialized knowledge in the niche domain of Cryptology and Security. To cater to the national requirements in this niche field, the Centre also offers several short-term courses and workshops targeted towards the officials from Government of India.M.Tech in Cryptology and Security
M.Tech in Cryptology and Security is a two year program offered in the Kolkata center of the Indian Statistical Institute. The course is designed to impart in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of cryptology and information security. Masters Thesis
The faculty members of the Centre can supervise Masters students of any discipline of the Institute in the domain of Cryptology and Security. Howeever, priority is generally given to the students from the M.Stat and M.Tech (CS) programs of the Institute.Interested students, who are already Masters students at the Institute, should contact individual faculty members directly for masters thesis supervision in their respective areas of interest.
Doctoral Dissertation
The Centre offers full-time Ph.D programs in Cryptology and Security. The admission to the doctoral program is through the usual process of JRF entrance examination and interview process of the Institute. Interested candidates may refer to http://www.isical.ac.in/~admission for details regarding the admission process.Interested students, who are already JRF/SRF at the Institute, should contact individual faculty members directly for doctoral thesis supervision in their respective areas of interest.
Summer Internship
Every summer, the Centre offers a dedicated research internship program to second/third year undergraduate students and first year post-graduate students from premier institutions of the country. Interested students may contact the individual faculty members to work under their respective guidance, or apply for the common Summer Internship Program in Cryptology.Certificate Course
The Centre offers a short-term (one semester) certificate course on the basics of Cryptology and Security for Government officers and scientists, who work in these areas. To earn the certificate, the participants of this course need to complete due coursework and/or work towards a major project and/or appear for end-of-term examinations (specific details and format may vary).The candidates are nominated from their respective organizations. Short-term Course
The Centre also offers short-term courses on specialized topics related to Cryptology and Security to Government as well as private organizations, on need basis. These courses are generally offered in the form of three-day intensive workshops or week-long lecture series, either within the Institute campus or in the campus of the respective organizations.If your organization requires such a course, you may contact the Head of the Centre.
