About Gandhinagar

With the tag of the cleanest city in Asia, Gandhinagar is the administrative capital of the state of Gujarat, located on the western bank of Sabarmati river. Named after the father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhinagar is the second planned city of India, after Chandigarh. The city is divided into thirty organised sectors, each of them is pedestrian friendly and self-contained. It's more of a people-oriented city, with all the parks, monuments, gardens and grand civic buildings. During Winter season, i.e., when the conference is scheduled, it is good sunny climate with temperature ranging between 20 to 30 °C.

Adalaj Step Well (8.1 km from DA-IICT Campus)

Adalaj Step Well

Stepwells were quite popular in olden days as they were the source of water for drinking and other household needs. Adalaj Step well was founded by Queen Rudabai in 1499 A.D. The stepwell is intricately carved. Its wall and pillars are decorated with flowers, birds, fish, leaves and other attractive patterns.

Akshardham Temple (7.6 km from DA-IICT Campus)

Akshardham temple is marvelous temple made up of pink stones. The mandir is a humble tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781- 1830) and the avatars, devas and sages of Hinduism. It is enclosed with foundations, gardens and amusement park around it.

Craftsmen’s Village, Pethapur (7 km from DA-IICT Campus)

Craftmen’s village is situated in the Pethapur village on the banks of Sabarmati river. Craftsmen’s village is dwelling of various craftsmen mainly that belong to Gujjar Suthar cast. The village is recognized as Crafsmen’s village as it houses large number of craftsmen.

Indroda park is regarded as India's Jurrasic Park. Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park is a precious treasure spread over an area of about 400 hectares on either bank of Sabarmati river in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat.

Mahatma Mandir is a convention and exhibition centre as well as a memorial located at sector 13, Gandhinagar. It is inspired from life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. It is one of the biggest convention centre of India spread over 34 acres.

Sabarmati Ashram (also known as Gandhi Ashram, Harijan Ashram, or Satyagraha Ashram) is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, adjoining the Ashram Road, on the banks of the River Sabarmati. This was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi who lived at Sabarmati (Gujarat) and Sevagram (Wardha, Maharashtra). He stayed in Sabarmati and Wardha for a total of twelve years. The Bhagavad Gita was recited here daily, as part of the Ashram schedule.

The Trimandir is the innovative temple concept of Param Pujya A. M. Patel, also known as Dada Bhagwan. Herein, the Lords of the three major religions in India, namely Jainism, Shaivism, and Vaishnavism (along with Gods and Goddesses from other religions) are brought together on the same platform, thus making it a one-of-a-kind non-sectarian temple. The entire complex is surrounded by a lush, green garden with benches, as well as a beautiful fountain at the center.
