BHID: Bishnupur Heritage Image Database

The programme of building this website is partially supported by Department of Science and technology (DST), Govt. of India under its Indian Digital Heritage (IDH) project. In this site we have provided reasonably good quality images of some of the important temples of Bishnupur for general viewing. Large number of images of higher resolution is available to the researchers on request for academic (not commercial) purpose. These images may be used for reconstructing 3D model of the temples. Some examples of 3d models are given in this site. Viewing these 3d models require installing ‘MeshLab’ software which may be downloaded from the site (https://sourceforge.net/projects/meshlab/). Explicit image data for various kinds of research problems are identified and stored in separate folders.

Objective

BHID is an image database of different temples of Bishnupur, one of the well-known Heritage sites in India. The database is developed to support the research work towards the digital preservations of the heritage sites. The images are captured with following four cameras:
  1. Nikon D7200 Digital SLR Camera with Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Telephoto Lens
  2. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V Digital Camera with Carl Zeiss F/2.8 IS Lens
  3. Nikon D3300 with AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6G VR II Lens
  4. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX60 with Carl Zeiss Lens and 8× optical zoom
Dimension of digital images are 6000x4000, 4896x3672, 6000x4000 and 4608x3456, respectively. At present it contains dataset for mainly following computer vision applications. However, researchers may use this database for other kind of applications also. We hope BHID will become a useful resource for researchers, educators, students and people from all over the world.
